The Suzuki Burgman 400 was a single cylinder, four-stroke scooter produced by Suzuki between 1999 and 2019. It could reach a top speed of 87 mph (140 km/h). Max torque was 25.3 ft/lbs (34.3 Nm) @ 5000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 32.32 HP (24.1 KW) @ 7000 RPM.

The engine was a liquid cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 81.0mm bore x 77.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 399.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

The bike has a automatic transmission. Power was moderated via the Dry, automatic.
Chassis [edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70-m14 front tire and a 150/70-m13 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via double disc. abs in the front and a single disc. abs in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic, coil spring, oil damped while the rear was equipped with a link type, coil spring, oil damped. The Burgman 400 was fitted with a 3.5 Gallon (13.25 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 438.72 pounds (199.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 62.2 inches (1580 mm) long.

Who said that all maxi scooters looked dull has definitely not laid an eye on the 2006 MY Burgman 400 Type S, a special trim offered by Suzuki to those in search of more sporty genes for their two-wheelers. Type S add-ons include an aluminum spoiler in place of the passenger backrest, a smaller, tinted windscreen, chrome accents, and limited edition black wheels and a contrasting white instrument panel.
Performance is also top-notch, just like in the case of the base model Burgman 400, with the generous storage and comfort levels intact.

For 2007, the Burgman 400 has received multiple upgrades, tarting with a new liquid-cooled, injected 400cc engine for more power and lower noise, breathing out through a redesigned exhaust which meets Euro 3 regulations. The underseat storage space has also been tweaked and it offers 62 liters of space for your luggage or groceries. Aesthetic upgrades also include revisited headlights and taillights, bodywork and instrument cluster.
The Burgman 400 also got a larger windscreen and a new, 14" front wheel with dual hydraulic disc brakes.

The 2008 model year does not introduce dramatic changes for the Burgman 400 maxi scooter. Suzuki's recipe seems to be a successful one so the "don't fix it if it's not broken" approach looks like a very smart one.
